Here are some reasons why you should create a blog for affiliate marketing and why you should love doing it. Blogging can be extremely fun and also a great income source with affiliate links throughout them. By the end of this, you’ll be reaching for the laptop wanting to blog instantly. See how well they work together.
Firstly let me start by saying we blog a lot. So if you’re wondering ‘do I need a blog for affiliate marketing?’ then no you don’t but here are some great positives why you could. If you are a subscriber of ours then you’ll know how much value we like putting out there to help you. We absolutely love blogging and now couldn’t imagine life without it. That’s the honest truth. Some days when we’re not sure what to do we just write another blog. It is a new way of life.
So lets get straight into the reasons why you should create a blog for affiliate marketing.
Create a blog for affiliate marketing, it can be the perfect way to earn an income
If you are writing about the things you love and you’re giving honest advice about it then guess what, people will trust you. They’ll be able to feel how passionate you are about what you write and they’ll believe in what you also like.
Once you have gained trust in your subscribers then they will automatically click on the links you provide (affiliate links) and then if they also agree with you and purchase based on your review then you’ll get a commission from that purchase.
Blog about what you are truly passionate about
Now I’m stating a strong point here and it’s very important. Only blog about what you feel passionate about. Also only add in affiliate links to things that you have tried and tested and can actually give a review on. That review should be honest.
If you are out there just to make money and link to anything just because it fits in that blog then you’re losing trust from your fans. If they click on that and purchase something based on a false review from you (just to make money), and find that it’s not as amazing as you made it out to be. Then you’re going to lose respect. Don’t fall into that category. They won’t follow you.
However, if you give a genuine review based on a purchase then the floor is yours. You should tell the world about that in your blog and help people to find out what they’re missing out on. Something that could potentially help them. That way people will trust your reviews and be more inclined to listen to what you say,
Not only will they listen to your reviews, but they’ll also be more likely to sign up to your mailing list and that’s a whole new level of marketing just there. See that’s now two ways in which you can make a profit from a blog. Learn more about why creating a mailing list is so important
Create a blog for affiliate marketing, it is so much fun
So if you’re wondering ‘do I need a blog for affiliate marketing?’ then here is another fantastic reason. My goodness, well I’ve touched down on how much we blog, but seriously it’s so much fun. You’re writing about what you’re passionate about so it isn’t particularly hard work. What’s more, is you can write them as long or as short as you like (the longer the better for SEO purposes).
And you can write exactly how you would speak. You don’t have to worry about whether you’re using perfect English. You can literally write how you write. And moreover, it’s even better if you do because it’s more authentic to your readers. They don’t want a piece of information typed out by a computer. No, they want straight-up advice from a real human being, who has experienced what they’re reading. They want you.
I mean, just for another amazing point right here you can get so creative with blogs! You can add links in the form of pictures, writing, actual affiliate links, banners, and quotes. You name it, you can do it. And you can literally promote however you want to. If you use a lot of photos then that’s fine. If you don’t, then also fine. Have fun trying new ways to add links to your posts.
Blogging for affiliate marketing is less work than trying to create your own product
Personally, we have tried both of these techniques and I can tell you firsthand that blogging is way easier than trying to source your own product. Not only that but when we sourced our own product we also personalized it and included more items to make it as a bundle (good advice). I’m not saying it wasn’t fun, but waiting for a couple of weeks for your product to arrive and it not be the right quality and to have to start over again. That’s hard work.
Create a blog for affiliate marketing, however, can be tweaked and updated whenever you like. Nothing is permanent and it only takes minutes to change things. Yes, it is hard work getting the right content to the right audience but in comparison to creating your own product, it is quicker.
Some affiliate marketers are wary about adding links into their blogs for fear of scaring their audience off but quite frankly the only thing it adds is value. It makes you come across that you actually know what you’re writing about and that you want to helps others by giving them resources to the things that helped you. That’s awesome.
And finally, you don’t have to worry about shipping anything out or any customer service feedback either. Let alone time management if a product is shipped and then gets a time delay. Your money is quite honestly in that shipping container on the other side of the world. With blogging and affiliate links, your money is simply at the tips of your fingers.
Still wondering ‘do I need a blog for affiliate marketing?’ – it’s easily affordable
Yay, I hear you all cry. Something that you don’t have to invest a tonne of money into to get started. That’s right. Quite simply you don’t even need your own website to start with if you don’t want to. You can add affiliate links to social media accounts and write to the world via them.
And even if you do decide to get your own website, yes there will be some cost to this but it’s not going to rob the bank. There are tonnes of learning tools out there on how to start blogging, further blogs that will help as well as YouTube videos. That’s the beauty with the online era, you can find information out about pretty much anything.
Then the fun bit starts and that’s the writing. Of course, that is free because it’s your very fingertips which will be doing the writing. And there’s no limit on how much you can write. So off you go.
Affiliate programs for bloggers
You can quite literally find an affiliate program to meet your niche (see our blog on What are the best affiliate marketing niches in 2020). There are so many out there and one of the best ones that most people will find something off of is of course the big Amazon. Most bloggers will be able to recommend something off of this one alone. Now there are pros and cons to using Amazon as an affiliate program but it’s an easy one to get started with to test the waters.
Other affiliate niches include – financial companies, digital products, travel websites, outdoor gear, home decoration, blog-related products, and clothing. Of course, there are more… So depending on your niche, you can find a program that fits around this, and not the other way around.
This is why it’s so important to pick a niche (something you’re passionate about) and then find the affiliate programs around that. Please don’t just think you’re going to get rich quick and sell big-ticket items based on no information about them. It really doesn’t work like that.
You can be your own boss! From anywhere in the world
Well hello, world. Quite literally, as long as you have a laptop and a Wi-Fi connection you can blog from anywhere in the world. Imagine being your own boss. Yes please is what I say. You get to pick what hours you work, where you work from, and what days you work.
On top of that, you can decide on how many times a week you blog, what you blog about, how you want to market your blogs if indeed you want to. You can run your business exactly how you want. You can invest as much or a little money into it as you wish. And you don’t have to wear a suit to go to work if you don’t want to. Do like me, sit in your pj’s instead.
You can grow your affiliate income however you so desire. The sky is your limit. Add as many or as little affiliate links as you like into your blogs, no one is going to tell you what to do. You get to have the reins on the business. And if you want to you can even ask for help and pay others to write blogs for you. This isn’t something we have done but it is an option with being your own boss.
No experience required
The silver lining. The cherry on the cake. How amazing that you can run your own business, be your own boss and you actually don’t need any previous experience whatsoever. What’s the catch? There is no catch.
Now, of course, you are going to have to learn about blogging, affiliate marketing, and website design but most people who do, they never had any experience. Look at us for instance, no experience in any of the above. Now we have our own website, we’re writing blogs with value, we promote on social media, and we’re our own boss.
Like I say you can learn anything online nowadays and there is always going to be information out there on any given topic, you just have to be willing to search for it. As per usual you can always reach out to us or check our other blogs for more useful tips.
So stop thinking ‘do I need a blog for affiliate marketing?’ and take a look at the reasons above again. This might be something for you, or it might not, but it’s a great way of linking affiliate marketing with an organic audience.
